I am lacking The IDEA/PRODUCT, a common situation for innovators and entrepreneurs.
Well, in-case you don't understand what i am talking about, i will break this down for you. Every entrepreneur looks for that one IDEA that will breakthrough. This IDEA sets the path for the future of the entrepreneur. Its the first big success in an entrepreneur's career. When i started practicing entrepreneurship, i had a long list of options that could be The IDEA for me. This taught me how to be open minded because i started by seeing opportunity in one industry only (IT) and now i see opportunity in a lot of industries like the fashion industry, agriculture, real estate, to name a few. Three years later, after multiple attempts to find the IDEA, i am in this situation where "I am lacking The IDEA/PRODUCT". How does it feel? It feels like you just went back to rock bottom, retour à la case départ. However, the good news is every entrepreneur goes through this stage in their career. What can i do to get myself out of this situation? Nowadays, the world needs entrepreneurs that solve its problems. All the successful innovators became successful because they solved a problem in this world. A question, why did the ideas of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Jack Ma, Mark Zuckerberg generate hundreds of Billions? They all tackled problems in their communities. The IDEA you are looking for is a problem today, It is waiting for you to find its solution. You probably have tried this and failed, well that's a positive thing because at least you've tried. Use your past failures as lessons. study them and work harder, make more research, you will get it the next time. Never give up. As i conclude, let me give you the "cost of success" i previously discovered;

Procrastination: The act of procrastinating; putting off or delaying or deferring an action to a later time. Do you have a problem with procrastination? do you postpone your tasks often? Or do you ever feel like stopping whatever your doing and just take a brief pause to thereafter postpone everything? Well it is normal. I've been fighting with procrastination for a very long time and one of the things that kills my time management the most is procrastination. When you procastinate you are putting off or delaying an action for a later time. Now some of you might be asking yourself, "what if the person actually does the action later?" The problem with procrastination is not doing an action, the problem is you delaying or putting off the action for a later time that was booked -I would say. One thing about time is that there is always something to do every time. There is no such thing as free time. You always have something to do, it is just that you think that it is less important than the procastinated action. Xtension 1: Now you might not agree with me with the "no such thing as free time", which is understandable, but let me prove it to you! Make a timetable/schedule of each day... First on the list are the Must do/Needs... then the Wants... (please do not forget things like relaxing time, time for physical and digital socializing, physical exercise's/Work out time, and 30 minutes before going to bed to read the Bible, pray, write down your thoughts, etc... do not forget to add some couple of minutes -before the 30 minutes of brainstorming and spiritual feeding- for preparing for the next day). Now dear estimated reader, where is the free time? Let's continue, when you procrastinate an action, it takes the place of another action -an endless chain of time wastage and procrastination. Stick with me, if you don't eliminate this bad habit from you... you risk being a slave of it for the rest of your life. One thing about Procrastination is that it is tremendously addictive. The chain of time wastage will continue and you will find yourself wrapped up in endless chains of regrets. Dr. David Molapo says, "Procrastination is described as being a dream destroyer, like a big bomb exploding violently on our personal goals, often shattering the things we cherish. After the explosion, all that is left are regrets. Regrets makes us tremble inside, leaving us with a feeling of emptiness and failure." 'Tomorrow' dilutes the urgency of tasks and gives you a false sense of fulfillment. Oprah Winfrey said, "Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment." If you read the book of Dr. David Molapo "Choose to Change" he gives an antidote to this disease called Procrastination. He says, "There is an antidote for the poison of procrastination; it is called time management." 10 Ways To Overcome Procrastination -Dr. David Molapo 1. When a new task looks overwhelming, start it immediately - even if you can only spend a few minutes on it. Spend the next week invoking the 24-hour rule. Respond to each new stimulus - mail, requests, phone calls, and so on - within 24 hours. 2. Break every difficult task into manageable portions. set yourself small goals - to read one chapter; write one page; to work for 45 minutes then take a 15-minute break and then do another 45 minutes of work. 3. Stop thinking about how uncomfortable you think you'll feel while doing what you consider to be undesirable. Instead, start thinking about how good you'll feel when it's finished. 4. Boost your motivation; focus on your strengths, especially on the completed tasks. 5. Recognize that you reduce your stress level every time you accomplish one of your dreaded 'To Do's'. 6. Reward yourself for making progress on a challenging project. Give yourself a bonus by doing somehting you really like. Every good task done deserves an incentive. This will keep you moving and motivated to work. 7. Write a schedule for completing your work. A schedule is like your mom constantly reminding you to clean your room - annoying, but effective. It also helps you keep track of what truly is important and relevant. Keep it in a highly visible place. 8. Ensure that you have the right equipment, information, etc. to help you in tackling the task. Spend some time preparing and planing but not to the extent that no real work gets done. Set a realistic time limit for planning. Build in some flexibility. 9. There is always a creative excuse you can make up if you really want to stall on a job. Don't make room for excuses. You are only fooling yourself. Stay clear of negative thoughts like, 'I won't finish it on time, so why start on it?' 10. Start working on the most nagging task in your backlog. Don't turn this page until you feel good about the progress you've made. A year from now you may wish you had started today. Xtension 2: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” -James 4:17. Link this bible verse to procrastination and time management. Conclusion: You would and can gain control of your time if you eliminated Procrastination from your life. Stop this thief of time. It is not a one day thing, it is a process/journey and a journey always starts with the first step. Everybody in the world has their own definition of new year! My definition of a New Year is new hope and more prosperity. This past year 2016 might have been a tough year or smooth year for you but all i know you learnt something, a lesson! If you did not, do not worry it is simple "A Lesson not learnt is repeated." Whatever happened in 2016, it is the past now. Now you can control your present which directly affects your future. What are you doing now to make 2017 a better year than 2016? Philippians 4;13 says "I can do all through Christ who strengthens me" and if our GOD is for us who can stand against us??? Let us make 2017 a year to remember! Stay updated for more! GOD Bless you all. We’ve all failed at one point in life. Some of us gave up and others kept on pushing till success. In this article I will explain to you what failure is and why it shouldn’t discourage you.
How many times have you failed? How many times did failure make you give up on yourself? How many times do you look in the mirror and call yourself a failure? What do you think of Failure? What do you think is the cause to your Failure? This thing you are trying all the time is it really your thing? Is it worth your efforts? These questions above are used in our daily lives. Somebody might not ask you these questions but at the end of the day you sit down and ask yourself these questions. When you correctly answer these questions then you have everything you need for success. Success and failure go together just like a language and its alphabets. You cannot speak or write a language without knowing its alphabets and how to write/pronounce them. The same thing applies to success; you cannot succeed in life without knowing what failure is. Why? When you fail the first time and the second time, the third time you won’t allow yourself to fail because you know how it hurts to fail. So you will try and find out what went wrong in the first and second trial and you will try to make things right the third trial. Failures come from three main words that is NO, END and FAIL itself. Each of these words has an acronym; F- FIRST A- ATTEMPT I- IN L- LEARNING N- NEW O- OPPORTUNITY E- EFFORTS N- NEVER D- DIE Failure is not meant to discourage you, it is meant to strengthen you and teach you how to manage your success so that when you succeed, you do not make the same mistakes again and fail. Some people do not understand the concept of failing and trying again until you succeed. It is all about having faith in yourself and your projects. Thomas Edison, the light bulb inventor got sent out of school when he was 10 years old and the reason being was that he had a mental problem and the school could not help him. He got fired in his first two jobs for not being productive enough. He failed in 1000 attempts trying to invent a commercially viable electric bulb. All those failures resulted into a tremendous success useful to the whole world. Michael Jordan, the legendary basketball player of all times was cut from his High school Basketball team, missed 9000 shots, lost 300 games and missed the game winning shot in 26 occasions before becoming the basketball legend of all times that he is. “I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeeded!” Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken/KFC got rejected about 1009 times. He presented his recipe to making fried chicken to 1009 restaurants and they all told him that he was crazy. But now KFC is a smash hit fast food restaurant with over 11815 franchise outlets in the world and $23 Billion Revenue. All these people and so many others believed in themselves. Because of the faith they had in themselves, they were determined to succeed and that is what pushed them to try so many times. Determination is a product of having personal faith/self-confidence! Self-confidence = Determination = Success My father recently asked me if I would try something for 1000 times and I told him straight NO. And when he asked me why, I said “What would I be fighting for?” To cut the story short, the conversation ended with a phrase from my father saying, “If you do not believe in yourself, who will believe in you?” So dear estimated reader, let me give you advice as I finish;

In 1947, Buffett graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, where his senior yearbook picture reads: “likes math; a future stockbroker.” Warren Buffett started showing interest in business and investment at a very young age where as he was selling chewing gums, coca-cola bottles and weekly magazines door to door. On a trip to New York City at age ten, he made a point to visit the New York Stock Exchange. At 11, he bought three shares of Cities Service Preferred for himself, and three for his sister Doris Buffett (founder The Sunshine Lady Foundation). While still in high school, he made money delivering newspapers, selling golf balls and stamps, and detailing cars, among other means. Buffett made more than $175 monthly delivering Washington Post newspapers. In 1945, Buffett and a friend spent $25 to purchase a used pinball machine, which they placed in the local Barber shop. Within months, they owned several machines in 3 different barber shops across Omaha. The business was sold later in the year for $1,200. In high school, he invested in a business owned by his father and bought a 40-acre farm worked by a tenant farmer. He bought the land with $1,200 of his savings. By the time he finished college, Buffett had accumulated a princely sum of more than $90,000 in savings measured in 2009 dollars. He went to University of Nebraska-Lincoln where at nineteen, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business administration. After being rejected by Havard Business School, He went to Columbia Business School and earned a Master of science in economics in 1951. After being rejected by Ben Graham(was on the board of GEICO insurance at that time) to work on Wall Street, he went back to Omaha and taught an “investment principles” night class at University Of Nebraska-Omaha. During this time, he purchased a Sinclair Texaco gas station as a side investment but it was not successful. In 1954, he accepted a job at Benjamin Graham's Partnership. In 1956, Ben Graham retired and closed his partnerships. Buffett had $174,000mof personal savings at that time and started Buffet Partnerships. In 1957, Buffet operated three partnerships and purchased a five bedroom Stucco house in Omaha, where he still lives for $31,500. He later on operated 7 partnerships and became a member of board in Sanborn Map Company. Warren Buffett made his first million in 1962 because of his partnerships which had an excess of $7,178,500 of which over $1,062,000 belonged to Buffett. In the same year he started buying shares in a textile manufacturing firm, Berkshire Hathaway. In 1965, Buffett took control of Berkshire Hathaway. He claimed that textile business has been his worst trade, he then diversified/moved the business into the insurance sector. In Brief, Berkshire Hathaway became an over $200 Billion company because of the boy that started by selling Chewing Gums, Coca-Cola Bottles and delivering weekly magazines door to door. So never be discouraged because “the future is trapped within you”- Myles Monroe. Written by M.V.Rhsa What do you see in the above picture?
The man in that picture is a successful entrepreneur who created a ride sharing company but you will be surprised when you'll know what inspired him. Logan Green is the co-founder and CEO of Lyft, a peer-to-peer ride sharing company, which he founded with John Zimmer in 2012. Lyft operates in more than 60 cities in the U.S. with more than 10 million shared rides taken to date.Lyft grew out of Zimride, a ride share company previously founded by Green and Zimmer in 2007. In April 2014 Lyft closed a $250 million round of financing, bring the total raised by Lyft and Zimride since 2007 to $330 million. Lyft has 240 employees and operates in 60 U.S cities. Green said, "I was inspired by what I saw African entrepreneurs do to solve transport problems, whilst traveling in the African country of Zimbabwe. I thought to myself, why don't we do that in America?" Green was a young tech entrepreneur interested in finding a solution for the transport problems he saw in his hometown of Los Angeles, a densely populated California city of almost 4 million people. He wondered why so many people, including himself, wasted so much time stuck in traffic jams. He concluded it was because each car on the road carried just one or two passengers, especially in morning and evening rush-hour traffic. "Why can't people share cars when going in the same direction?" he wondered. Then, whilst traveling on holiday in Zimbabwe, Green noticed that cars coming from high density townships were always full, and asked why: "We give each other lifts!" one Zimbabwean driver explained. "You mean it's a kind of ‘ride share’?" "Yes!" "Do they charge?" "Yes, of course, we charge each other." The young entrepreneur headed back with this idea to solve an American problem. His solution was to build a software "App" which helps you find a "lift" from someone driving in your direction! In 2006 Green co-founded his first ride-sharing company, Zimride, which grew to become the largest ride-sharing community across the USA! In 2013 Zimride was acquired by Enterprise, a large international rental car agency. In 2012 he co-founded his new company, Lyft, which this year was already valued at about $2.5bn by top investors! What do you get from this? In life, all the challenges we meet/face in life, they are also great opportunities for us. Have a vision in life. |
